Hugo and the Diamond Moon (Hugo og diamantmånen), or "Hugo the Movie", was a cancelled computer-animated film that was announced in late 1999 to arrive in 2002. Some ideas from the film were later used in the game Hugo in Space.
Synopsis[]
Scylla (Afskylia) has bought the troll forest and is about to have it chopped down. Hugo needs money to save the forest, and so he and his grandpa build a rocket to go with his kids to the Moon and get the precious diamonds. Unfortunately for them, Scylla follows them into space, but all will end well.
Production[]
The film was a co-production between ITE and Denmark’s Sandrew Metronome movie distribution company. Animator Jørgen Klubien worked as development writer and artist on the film, which was storyboarded by him, Frank Madsen, Mike Cachuela, and Mads Themberg. It was planned that the release of the film would be accompanied by a range of tie-in products, including a soundtrack album, toys, and video games.
