Penguin Battle gameplay

In the game's 24 levels, in which Hugo needs to melt the ice and battle the clones. At the disposal of Hugo is a flying steam generator for cutting and thawing ice.

In each level, Hugo begins with 3 lives in a race against time. Various power-ups help Hugo by giving him extra speed, bonus life, more time, and so forth - but Hugo must remain on alert as the enemies placed many power-downs to prevent him from succeeding in his mission.

The machine needs fuel, which can be replenished at special fuel stations at each level. However, refueling is not free: for each refueling 100 points are deducted, which in turn are charged for getting rid of the ice mass and the enemies. In addition to stationary gas stations, fuel cans can be found within the levels.

Points are also awarded for defeating enemies. Hugo faces the clone penguins restoring ice and firing rockets at him, and occasionally also the clones of Scylla herself that use magic to attack the troll and too can restore the ice. All the clones, including Scylla's, need to be eliminated by melting of the ice underneath them.

The game does not provide a save system. Quitting the game or spending all the lives of Hugo means having to restart from the very first level.
