Hugo: Scylla's Revenge (international title) is a PC-only video game originally developed by Krogh Mortensen Animation and published by ITE Media in 1999. It is the third of Hugo Christmas special games ("Wintergames"), the other ones being Winter Games and Hugo Saves Christmas.
The game was released in Denmark as Hugo: Afskylias Hævn, and was also released in Germany as Hugo Wintergames 3, in Poland as Hugo: Gwiazdkowa przygoda (Hugo: Christmas Adventure) and in Russia as Кузя: Новый год (Kuzya/Hugo: New Year).
Plot[]
The evil witch Scylla has decided that this year the Christmas should finally fail. So she travels north to the the elf village of Santa Claus and uses the worst magic she has ever devised: she captures the elves in blocks of ice and freezes Santa in a well. Scylla ties her faithful raven to a tree outside the gates of the village. Through the eyes of the raven she can see the village in her crystal ball and keep an eye on all strangers who might try to break her spell.
Luckily, Hugo comes to the village on December 1st to free the elves and Santa Claus so that the elves can finish presents in time for Christmas Eve. Every day in Advent until Christmas Eve a new task awaits him. If Hugo succeeds in lifting the curse, Scylla finds out about it. But when the furious witch flies full-speed to the village, she smashes head-on into the departing reindeer sleigh of Santa (who flies away from the crash unharmed).
Gameplay[]
Hugo needs to solve 24 simple and Christmas/winter-themed minigames, one for each day of December 1-24 in the correct order, collecting information and saving elves. He can also read another chapter from a Christmas story book, and in the end is going to decorate a big Christmas tree.
